Shalom provides services to both public and non-public
schools in Philadelphia.
Our Grade School Program prevention specialists
teach prevention curricula in the school setting that address a variety of
topics such as interpersonal life skills, drugs and alcohol, bullying and
violence. Shalom uses evidence-based curricula whenever possible.
These programs have been proven to be effective through research.
The High School Programis based largely upon small
group and individual support for those students who are already in distress or
are displaying high-risk behaviors. High school prevention specialists
also moderate Students Against Destructive Decisions and other peer leadership
programs. In addition, they serve as facilitators for the Student Assistance
Program team in each school.
The A.I.M. High School Program works with teens onissues of developing
skills for healthy relationships, pregnancy and parenting. Much of this
work is done in small group and individual sessions, as well as classroom
presentations.
Shalom school-based
staff works closely with school administrators, teachers and parents to provide
services that are in alignment with the needs of the students and the standards
of the school.
